It is easier to make your own syrup than you think. The delicious, zingy flavour of lemongrass tastes super in lemonade.

Ingredients

Lemongrass syrup

Kitchen tools

  • Bottle with cap, approx. 1 litre

Preparation method

  1. Bring 1 litre of water with the sugar to the boil. Bruise the lemongrass stalks and add to the liquid. Simmer over a low heat for approx. 40 minutes until the syrup has thickened. Remove from the heat and leave to cool slightly.
  2. Squeeze the lime and add the juice. Remove the lemongrass stalks. Pour the syrup into a glass bottle with a cap. Pour some syrup into a glass and top up with (sparkling) water.

  1. Tip: Prefer less sugar? Replace the sugar (or some of the sugar) with the natural sweetener stevia. See the pack for the sugar/stevia ratio.
