Grilled plantain skewers

Plantain at its very best: grilled on the barbecue. When a plantain is yellow, it is perfect for grilling. It makes an unusual side dish if you want to try something new! Plantain has a naturally sweet taste.

Grilled plantain skewers

  • BBQ or grill pan
  • 8 wooden skewers soaked in cold water for 1 hour

Preparation method

  1. Peel the plantains and cut across diagonally into 2 cm slices.
  2. Slide four slices of plantain onto each skewer. Grill the skewers on the barbecue for approx. 4 minutes or grill for approx. 6 minutes in a grill pan. Turn the skewers constantly.

 

  1. Serving tip: Tasty with spicy peanut sauce, Surinamese sambal or sweet chilli sauce.
