  • Yellow turmeric pasta with tuna

The bright yellow orange colour of turmeric is often used in Indian recipes to colour curries. Why wouldn't you use this natural colouring agent in a simple pasta dish as well? Great to try out with the kids, they will be so surprised!


  • 40 g EAT ME turmeric
  • 6 leaves EAT ME basil
  • 1 red onion
  • 1 large carrot
  • 2 spring onions
  • 5 cherry tomatoes
  • 250 g white tagliatelle
  • 180 g tuna (canned)
  • 6 black olives (without pits)
  • 2 tbsp. olive oil
  • pepper & salt

Let's get to work

  1. Peel the turmeric and chop finely. Place in a pan and add 3 litres of water. Bring to the boil. Turn down the heat and leave the turmeric to infuse for 20 minutes.
  2. Sieve the water and cook the pasta for 6 minutes in the strained water. Let the pasta sit for another 3 minutes in the turmeric water so the turmeric can colour the pasta even more. Drain the pasta.
  3. Dice the red onion. Peel the carrot, cut in half and cut in slices.
  4. Add olive oil to a frying pan, sauté the red onion for about 2 minutes than add the carrot slices. Add the tuna after 2 minutes and turn down the heat.
  5. Rinse the basil. Slice the cherry tomatoes in wedges and chop the basil, spring onion and olives finely. Add all this to the tuna. Mix carefully together and add salt and pepper to taste. Reheat everything for another 2 minutes.
  6. Reheat the pasta by putting it in a sieve and placing it in boiling water for 1½ minutes.
  7. Place the pasta on the plates and put the warm tuna mixture on top.
