Looking for a nice treat to go with your cup of tea or coffee? This variation of the classic apple pie has a tangy twist. Experiment with pomegranate seeds and discover how great they are in a pie.

Ingredients

  • 2 EAT ME pomegranates¬†(or 250 g EAT ME pomegranate seeds)
  • 1 packet apple cake mixture (including the extra ingredients as instructed on the packaging)
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 Packet Taartina (gelatine)

Let's get to work

Preparation
  1. Prepare the apple pie according to the instructions on the packet. Use all of the dough to cover
    the base of the cake tin.
  2. Cut the top of the pomegranate. Cut gently along the ridges from the top to the bottom.
    Break the fruit open. Take the seeds out of the fruit.
  3. Remove 3 teaspoons from 200 ml water and mix through the Taartina.
  4. Bring the rest of the water to the boil. Add 2 teaspoons of sugar. Bring to the boil again.
    Pour the Taartina mixture into it and keep stirring the liquid while bringing to the boil again.
    Let the jelly cool down a bit and then add the pomegranate seeds.
  5. Pour the jelly on top of the cake and leave to set in the fridge for 15 minutes.
