This physalis berry crumble is a heartwarming dessert. The oatmeal gives the crumble a nice bite. Make it extra special by adding a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

For the filling

  • 100 g EAT ME physalis berries
  • 1 EAT ME mango
  • 1 EAT ME lime
  • 1 pear
  • 1 tsp. vanilla sugar
  • ½ tsp. cinnamon

For the crumble

  • 75 g flour
  • 75 g sugar
  • 75 g oatmeal
  • 90 g cold butter
  • salt

Let's get to work

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 °C.
  2. Cut the mango along both sides of the stone or use a mango cutter. Then cut some strips in the seedless flesh, without cutting through the skin. Also slice in the opposite direction so you get a crosshatch pattern. Spoon the cubes from the mango.
  3. Cut the pear into cubes and wash the physalis berries.
  4. Cut the lime in half. Squeeze the juice from the fruit.
  5. Mix the mango, pear and physalis berries and add the vanilla sugar, cinnamon and lime juice.
  6. Knead the flour together with a pinch of salt and the cold butter, creating a crumbly substance. Add the sugar and oatmeal as well.
  7. Place the fruit in bowls and spoon the crumble mixture on top. Make sure the fruit is well covered.
  8. Bake the crumble in the preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes until cooked and golden brown.

Leave out the sugar if you want to make it sugar free. The crumble will taste less sweet but will still be nice.

Serve the crumble physalis slightly warmed up.
