Spicy filo spring rolls

  • 1 shallot
  • 1 clove of garlic

    1/2 naga jolokia pepper
  • 5 tbsp olive oil
  • 250 g minced beef
  • ½ tsp curry powder
  • ½ tsp paprika powder
  • 2 tbsp ketjap manis (sweet soy sauce)
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • Salt
  • 7 sheets of filo pastry (defrosted in the packaging)

Preparation method

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 °C.
  2. Finely chop the onion and the garlic. Halve the naga jolokia pepper, remove the seeds and finely slice the flesh.
  3. Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a frying pan and fry the shallot and garlic on a medium heat in about 3 minutes. Add the mince and fry until cooked for about 4 minutes. Add the curry powder, paprika powder, ketjap, soy sauce and flour. Fry for another 2 minutes. Season with salt.
  4. Spoon a generous spoonful of the mixture in the middle of a filo pastry sheet. Brush the edges with olive oil. Fold in the outer edges and brush again with olive oil. Roll up the filo pastry rolls. Place them on a baking tray lined with baking paper with the seam side facing down. Bake in the middle of the oven for about 15 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
