This crunchy Shanghai paksoy is delicious grilled on the barbecue. Combined with the Asian marinade, the grilled paksoy will be a real flavour bomb. If you can't grill on a barbecue, just use a grill pan. In any case don't grill the paksoy too long, this way it keeps its vitamins and stays crunchy.


  • 4 EAT ME Shanghai paksoy
  • 15 g sesame seeds
  • 4 tbsp. sesame oil
  • 3 tbsp. soy sauce (salty)
  • 2 tbsp. sweet soy sauce (ketjap manis)
  • 4 tsp olive oil

Let's get to work

  1. Start the barbecue.
  2. Wash the Shanghai paksoy and cut in half lengthwise.
  3. Roast the sesame seeds in a dry frying pan until golden brown and leave in a bowl to cool down.
  4. Add the olive oil, salty soy sauce, sesame oil, sweet soy sauce (ketjap manis) and use a whisk to mix together thoroughly.
  5. Place the Shanghai paksoy on the barbecue and grill 4 to 5 minutes on its flat side.
  6. Take the Shanghai paksoy off the barbecue and use a brush to spread the marinade on.
