Enjoy it for longer, waste less

**You can enjoy an EAT ME avocado straight away. But you don’t have to: you can also keep that delicious avocado for longer. To help with this, our avocados have been given a plant-based protective coating, which ensures that the shelf life of every ripe avocado is extended. This gives you more time to enjoy the tastiest ripe avocados and can help you reduce food waste. The Apeel coating is plant-based, odourless and tasteless.**

## What exactly is Apeel protection?

The longer fruit ripens, the more moisture evaporates from it and the more oxygen penetrates it. As a result, every piece of fruit will eventually go off. What Apeel does is create a second skin around the fruit. This protection acts as a natural barrier against evaporation and oxygen. A so-called ‘microclimate’ develops inside an avocado, which slows down the ripening process, meaning the avocado stays tasty for longer.

## Ingredients: plant-based

The Apeel protective coating is made from ingredients that occur naturally in fruit: peel, fruit pulp and seeds. So only plant-based substances are used, and these are applied only to the skin. This means you can eat any avocado treated with Apeel as normal. You can’t taste it, you can’t smell it and you can’t see it.

You don’t need to wash off the plant-based protective coating either: Apeel is 100% safe and sustainable. This is also in line with the strict regulations of the European Union, which has authorised Apeel in all its member states. You can recognise a ready-to-eat EAT ME Apeel avocado by the purple sticker featuring the EAT ME and Apeel logos.

### How do you store Apeel avocados?

It’s best to keep your ripe Apeel avocado in the fridge.

You don’t always have an immediate use for EAT ME avocados that are ready to eat. Thanks to Apeel’s protection, you can enjoy them for longer.

The EAT ME Apeel avocado you buy can be eaten straight away, but thanks to Apeel’s plant-based protective coating, you can also keep them for a few more days. This gives you more time to enjoy them and helps us work together to reduce food waste. Thanks to Apeel’s plant-based protective coating, more avocados remain available for consumption. And that means that resources such as CO₂ and water aren’t wasted unnecessarily.
